Certified VIN inspection

If you buy or bring a vehicle to New Mexico and want to get it registered here, you will need a Certified VIN Inspection by a Certified VIN Inspector before your car can be registered.

New Mexico State Law requirements: All used vehicles with titles from any state other than New Mexico, being registered and titled in New Mexico, shall be visually inspected by a Certified VIN Inspector to verify that the vehicle identification number on the Certificate of Title corresponds with the vehicle.

At Madrid Towing, you can get a Certified VIN Inspection by our Certified VIN Inspector available Monday thru Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, and on weekends by appointment.

Here is the applicable law directly from the State of NM:

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Inspection (§66-3-4(B))All used vehicles with titles from any state other than New Mexico, being registered and titled in New Mexico for the first time, shall be visually inspected, by a certified VIN inspector to verify that the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the Certificate of Title corresponds with the vehicle.
